About the Positions We are seeking CEI Inspectors at various levels, including CEI Inspector Aid and CEI Inspector I, to provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. The level of the position will be dependent upon the selected finalist's background and expertise. This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area. We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need . This post targets various counties in the state of Georgia. Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications. Responsibilities The following responsibilities are examples only and represent an Inspector Aid level finalist. These responsibilities will become increasingly more complex, and additional duties could be added if an Inspector I finalist is selected. Confirmation will be discussed with selected finalists. Will perform a range of routine and standardized work including manual and/or electronic calculations, computations, and inspections of construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract. Will inspect truck load tickets for roadway aggregate base course; borrow material and asphaltic concrete at project field sites. Will perform a variety of simple materials sampling, inspection and/or testing. Will perform contract administrative duties, which may include field measurements of pay item quantities, project close-out, as well as other Department required documentation. May be required to use a number of different pieces of equipment such as Slump Cone, Air Meter, Measuring Wheel/Tape, Thermometer, etc. Incumbents will be fully trained in the use of equipment necessary to accomplish their work. May be required to work at remote sites around construction equipment, drilling rigs, explosives and environmental contamination. Attributes Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The following minimum and preferred requirements and certifications represent an Inspector Aid level finalist. There may be additional minimum and preferred requirements and certifications if an Inspector I finalist is selected. Confirmation will be discussed with selected finalists. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED. General knowledge of mathematical functions. Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators. Ability to learn and interpret such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures. Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law. Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.). Required Certifications Please Note: For titles containing GDOT certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests, certifications and passing scores must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted. GDOT WECS. GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification. GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control). Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading). Preferred Qualifications 1.5+ years' experience working as a CEI Inspector Aid. Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction. Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions including geometry. Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures. Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports. Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control). Compensation Details Expected Salary: $35k-$62k/year ($16-$30/hour).
