Initial Posting Date:02/05/2026 Application Deadline:02/12/2026 Agency:Department of Justice Salary Range:$3,515 - $4,738 Position Type:Employee Position Title:Central Mail Specialist (Office Specialist 2) - Multiple Vacancies Job Description:The Oregon Department of Justice's Division of Child Support (DCS) is seeking to hire two (2) dedicated individuals with an exceptional attention to detail and customer service as Central Mail Specialists (Office Specialist 2) for our Central Mail Team! Due to the nature of this position, the required work hours are 8a.m. 5p.m., Monday through Friday in office, with an hour scheduled for lunch.Job Duties (in part) Review incoming return mail with and without forwarding addresses.Verify and update or inactivate as appropriate on each participant.Process child support payments.Verify addresses on various screens, databases, and other sources including, DMV, TANF, Vines and CLEAR and contacting the customer.Initiate and receive phone calls to gather missing or to update information for a participant.Assist walk-in visitors and narrate case as appropriate.Associate non barcoded documents with child support cases.Identify, investigate, and verify information such as social security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employers, assets, or other income; compare data on documents, referrals, and computerized records to add, delete, or change information, forward information to maintain current and complete child support case records.Required Experience Research suggests that women and people of color are less likely to apply unless they are confident they meet 100% of the listed qualifications.We strongly encourage all interested individuals to apply, and allow us to evaluate the knowledge, skills, and abilities that you demonstrate, using an intentional equity lens.Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.OR An Associate degree in any field.OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.AND Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check.A driver history check will be included for positions requiring state vehicle driving privileges.Adverse findings will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the position.Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.(Example:20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.) The Central Mail Specialist must be able to manage a high volume of mail, work independently and with the team, prioritize work, and exercise judgment in accordance with state and federal guidelines.The Central Mail Specialist is in frequent contact with custodial and non-custodial parents verifying addresses, taking payments, in an infrequent hostile and uncooperative environment.As an authorized representative of the State, the Central Mail Specialist is expected to communicate effectively and courteously in these situations.All records of the Child Support Program are highly confidential.The Central Mail Specialist is expected to have a working knowledge of what information can be released and under what circumstances.The employee is expected to gain a general knowledge of statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.The employee acts in a professional manner at all times, representing the Department of Justice, the Attorney General, and the State of Oregon.This position will be required to obtain a Notary Public commission within six months of being hired and will maintain the commission throughout the duration of this appointment.Preference may be given to candidates with a current active Oregon Notary.Desired Skills, Experiences, and Attributes Ability to accurately keyboard at 40wpm.Flexibility and adaptability with change.Ability to maintain punctual and regular attendance.Organization and consistency with work.Professional experience working collaboratively with a team.Dependable and reliable.Must be able to maintain confidentiality.Must be able to give full attention to
