Job Description
LifePoint Health is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to making communities healthier, you will provide patient-focused occupational therapy services in a non-urban hospital setting, helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will carry out treatment plans designed to enhance patients’ ability to perform activities of daily living, participate in meaningful activities, and safely function in their home and community environments. In this role, you will assist with evaluating functional abilities, implement therapeutic interventions, and provide hands-on support to patients across diverse age groups and diagnoses, including orthopedic, neurologic, medical-surgical, and post-acute conditions. You will guide patients through therapeutic exercises, functional task training, cognitive and perceptual activities, and the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices. You will observe and document patient responses, communicate progress and concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist, and collaborate with nurses, physicians, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated, patient-centered care. You will be responsible for accurate, timely documentation of all treatments, patient education, and progress notes in the electronic medical record, following departmental and regulatory standards. A strong focus on safety, infection control practices, and adherence to established therapy protocols is essential. You will involve families and caregivers in training and education, providing clear instruction on safe mobility, self-care techniques, and home exercise programs to support successful transitions of care and reduce the risk of hospital readmission. LifePoint Health fosters a collaborative culture with a strong emphasis on community impact and patient-focused care. As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where your input is valued and your professional growth is encouraged. You will participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement activities, and may support student or staff orientation as directed. Dependability, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to compassionate care are critical for success in this position. Candidates should be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program and hold current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), along with appropriate state licensure or eligibility. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within organizational guidelines. Prior experience in an inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation setting is preferred, though new graduates with strong clinical training and a passion for serving non-urban communities are encouraged to apply. LifePoint Health offers a supportive work environment, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package that may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings options. This is a full-time, on-site clinical role that provides a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact on patients’ daily lives while contributing to the health and well-being of the broader community.
