The successful candidate will be the academic, clinical, and administrative leader of the department, responsible for directing its patient care, education, and research missions. This role involves providing leadership in the development and execution of strategic plans, ensuring that clinical, educational, and scientific programs are patient-focused and high-performing, and supporting the faculty in engaging and educating students and scholars. The Chair will also be tasked with supporting the recruitment of high-caliber faculty and trainees, leading initiatives to enhance research capabilities, and driving the department's growth and expansion. Candidates for the Chair position should have an MD or MD/PhD degree, be board-certified in their specialty, and be eligible for or currently hold a medical license in the state of California. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of clinical and academic accomplishments, experience in administering pathology and laboratory services, and a proven track record in teaching. Leadership experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and a service-oriented, entrepreneurial approach are essential. The Chair will be expected to promote an inclusive culture, support the department's financial performance, and ensure quality outcomes in patient service.
