The Certification focuses on systemic changes to processes and practices that broaden the slate of diverse talent considered for leadership roles and advancement activities. Requirements US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Registration 3+ years of US patent preparation and prosecution experience. Experience with drafting and filing Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications and managing international patent portfolios. Bachelor’s or advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering, organic chemistry, or related discipline. Experience with generating drawings of chemical structures using ChemDraw™ Ability to communicate promptly and effectively with clients, colleagues, and staff. Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels. Strong writing and logic skills. Ability to work on complex tasks with precision and deliver high-quality, timely results. Technical understanding of Chemistry, particularly organic chemistry and biochemistry; Biotechnology; and Life sciences. Preferred Qualifications Juris Doctorate. Experience with preparing freedom to operate (FTO) and patent invalidity opinions. Advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, organic chemistry, or related discipline. Technical understanding of one or more of: Small molecule pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals; Polymer chemistry; Inorganic chemistry; Materials science; Continuous flow chemistry systems; Water treatment; Batteries and electrochemistry; Nuclear technologies; Cancer therapies; and Genetic sequencing. Duties Patent preparation and prosecution across various technology areas, with a focus on chemistry and life sciences. May also include managing foreign prosecution and rendering opinions to clients. Extensive and timely interaction with in-house attorneys, inventors, and Firm practitioners. Compensation & Benefits The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $140,000 to $250,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate’s education, training, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Our compensation program also provides annual incentive bonuses based on work production and may offer merit bonuses.
