Overview This role will play a key part in supporting the development of chemometric models through laboratory experimentation, spectral data analysis, and software-enabled data workflows. The candidate will combine hands-on analytical chemistry experience with technical and computational skills to generate high-quality calibration and validation datasets used in predictive model development. Working closely with the Chemometrics team, the candidate will operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including NIR and Raman systems, apply sound experimental design and quality control practices, and contribute to the development of tools and applications that support chemometric model evaluation and deployment. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, scientific curiosity, and the ability to bridge laboratory data generation with analytical and software-driven solutions. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Chemometrics - Analytical Chemist will be responsible for: Designing and executing laboratory experiments specifically aimed at generating calibration and validation datasets for chemometric model development Operating and maintaining analytical instrumentation including NIR and Raman Applying sound sampling strategies, experimental design (DoE), and QC practices to ensure data quality and representativeness Constructing predictive models to translate spectra into usable data for our customers Developing software to improve the MATLAB ad Python Software Development Kits (SDKs) for the chemometrics team Developing applications to evaluate models after development and prior to development to field analyzers Skills and Knowledge Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into practical, scalable software solutions Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, with attention to detail Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams Working knowledge of chemometric modeling concepts and data analysis techniques Understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field Familiarity with instrumental analysis and spectroscopic experimental methods e.g., Raman and NIR spectroscopies Demonstrated software experience: proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for data analysis (coursework, research, or personal projects all count) Preferred Qualifications Undergraduate research, co-op, or internship involving spectral data analysis, method development, or data pipeline work Experience with chemometrics platforms such as PLS Toolbox, The Unscrambler, or Solo+MIA Experience with APIs, RDBMS, NoSQL, Docker Containers and ReactJS.
