Job Description
Description This position typically provides support to solicitors in all aspects of trial preparation and by performing high level administrative tasks; and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and citizens. THIS POSITON IS LOCATED IN ORANGEBURG, SC Duties ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Prepares, processes, copies, indexes, files, transmits and/or maintains various court motions and orders. Audits and ensures the security and confidentiality of files as appropriate. Coordinate and schedule court hearings with Defense Attorney’s. Prepare and mail hearing notices. Prepare transport orders and coordinate transport for inmates to court. Attend and assist with General Sessions Court. Prepares indictments, subpoenas, discovery request and other documents for court proceedings. Process and enter victims’ information in records management system. Sends out victim letters with impact statement forms to all victims and processes returned forms. Maintains records, prepares forms, verifies information, and resolves moderately complex problems. Prepares correspondence, memoranda, reports, etc. Types letters, memos, and other correspondence for the appropriate office or department. Examines documents created by other administrative support for accuracy as assigned. May purchases and maintains office inventory levels such as paper, pens, toner, etc. Schedules and maintains calendar of appointments, meetings and travel itineraries; coordinates related arrangements. Resolves moderately complex issues regarding departmental operations. May assist in departmental budgeting. Assists co-workers with clerical duties as necessary. Operates a personal computer and appropriate software packages or its equivalent. Performs other related job duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED supplemented by education in accounting, bookkeeping, secretarial science or a closely related field. Requires at least three (3) years of related work experience. Additional Requirements Special Qualifications: Certification as a Victim Service Provider preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment. Dorchester County has the right to revise this job description at any time. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hour each week to maintain full-time status.
