The successful candidate will be responsible for performing autopsies and external examinations to determine the cause and manner of death, maintaining medical examiner records, and ensuring the proper completion of death certificates. This role also involves interpreting various laboratory results, testifying in court as an expert witness, and coordinating with the criminal justice system. The Chief Forensic Pathologist will oversee the office's operational aspects, including administration, investigations, and morgue operations, and will be expected to develop and implement policies in compliance with state statutes. Applicants for the Chief Forensic Pathologist position at the company should have a medical degree from an accredited institution, with residency training in anatomic pathology and a fellowship in forensic pathology. A current medical license and board certifications in relevant areas are required. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' of experience as a forensic pathologist, with a preference for those with 10 years' of experience and a background in supervisory roles. The role demands a high level of knowledge in forensic medicine, laboratory procedures, and the ability to effectively communicate and make decisions under pressure.
