CHILD CARE ASSISTANT OPEN RECRUITMENT 12-MONTH ELIGIBILITY LIST RANGE 10, $3,165.48 - $3,875.43 MONTHLY CURRENT VACANCY: 100 %****, 12 MONTHS SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. This recruitment will be used to fill all current and future vacancies as well as create a substitute list . The Child Development Center Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking a qualified individual for a current opportunity as a Child Care Assistant! This individual will be responsible for providing care, guidance and developmentally appropriate learning and socialization experiences for toddler and/or preschool-aged children to encourage and facilitate positive social and cognitive learning; and performs related duties as assigned. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines. We are looking for someone who has obtained graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Additionally, this candidate must have a completion of twelve (12) semester units in child growth and development, human growth and development, child family and community, or child development/early childhood education courses from an accredited college and a minimum of 25 days experience of three-plus (3+) hours per day within 2 years; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in an academic setting is highly desirable. A limited number of candidates who best meet the needs of the District will be invited to continue in the examination process. It is important that your responses are clear and concise. Responses that are incomplete or unclear will not receive credit. The Work Experience you list on the application must also include all recent and relevant experience (including volunteer or unpaid work if the duties/responsibilities directly related to the job you are seeking) in order for your application and supplemental application to be considered. Experience is evaluated on the basis of a verifiable 35 hour week, unless specified otherwise. Prorated part-time experience may be acceptable. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list * in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations. AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week) / Bargaining Unit Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. (subject to change based on the needs of the program) Location: Current vacancy at Liberal Arts Campus, but could support both campuses Salary: Range 10, $3,165.48 - $3,875.43 Monthly Eligibility list : Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission.
