Job Description
Overview The Church Music Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the music ministry of the church. This includes directing the chancel choir, handbell choir(s) and coordinating with the praise team director to enhance the spiritual atmosphere during worship services and special events. The director selects appropriate music, arranges rehearsals, and works closely with the pastoral staff to ensure the music aligns with the message and theme of each service. Must be available to attend the 9:00 AM church worship service on Sunday mornings. Responsibilities Lead and direct the churches chancel and handbell choir (s) Plan and select music for regular and special worship services in consultation with worship committee. Organize and conduct regular rehearsals to prepare volunteer participants for services and events. Collaborate closely with pastors and worship leaders to plan service flow and incorporate musical elements effectively Foster an inclusive environment that encourages teaching, mentorship, and spiritual growth through music Organize special musical events, seasonal concerts, and community outreach programs to engage the congregation beyond regular services Experience Proven experience leading church or community music programs with a strong understanding of diverse musical styles Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams of volunteers or musicians within a faith-based setting Excellent communication skills to effectively teach new songs, coordinate rehearsals, and collaborate with church staff Background in teaching music or vocal training. Handbell playing experience is desired but not required. Ability to play piano/organ is preferred. Pay: $20.00 per hour Work Location: In person
