Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Travel Construction Manager (Civil Engineer) to support the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV). In this role, you will support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) by providing construction oversight for projects in coordination with Project Engineers, Contracting Officer Representatives, and Contracting Officers. You will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, reporting progress and issues, and ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and objectives. Projects support Air Traffic Control facilities across the eastern third of the United States and the Caribbean. This position requires 100% travel (including weekends), with assignments typically lasting several weeks to months. Travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company and federal guidelines. The ideal candidate will live in the eastern part of the US. The Travel Construction Manager will provide on-site construction monitoring, coordination, and quality assurance services to ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. Scope of Services Serve as the primary field point of contact, coordinating with construction contractors, project engineers, and stakeholders to facilitate communication and resolve field issues Ensure contractor compliance with FAA Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) policies, applicable regulations, and contract requirements while providing field construction monitoring & quality assurance Monitor construction progress against approved schedules, review contractor reports, and communicate status, risks, and deviations from plans and specifications Review request for information (RFIs), submittals, shop drawings, & work plans to provide input to engineering teams Support construction inspections, commissioning, and closeout activities, including the tracking and coordinating resolution of punch list items Maintain accurate daily reports and as-built documentation and support project management activities (e.g., safety plans, sequencing, risk, & quality) using strong communication (verbal and written) skills Assist with basic design modifications, constructability reviews, and field-driven adjustments; support coordination with engineering/design stakeholders, and share technical knowledge with team members Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited) with ten (10) years of relevant experience in construction of commercial, industrial, or government facilities Strong knowledge of construction methods, plans and specifications, building materials, and applicable codes and quality standards Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, engineers, and government stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Sheets, Google Docs, and construction document review tools such as Bluebeam or similar Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, based on project needs Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to obtain a U.S. passport Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening Work Environment and Physical Requirements Perform essential field duties in active construction environments, including navigating uneven terrain and varying environmental conditions Access elevated work areas using ladders and walk-up multiple flights of stairs (up to 12 flights), including when elevators are unavailable or in test mode Work in mechanical and equipment rooms and other areas with exposure to elevated noise levels and active construction conditions Lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 pounds as required for site activities Preferred Qualifications Candidates strongly preferred to live in the eastern part of the US and near a large airport Professional Engineering (PE) license or progress toward licensure Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation / Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project Prior experience supporting FAA or other government projects Previous construction supervision or field oversight experience Commitment to Non-Discrimination All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
