Job Description
Onvida Health , a regional not-for-profit health system in Arizona, is seeking an accomplished physician leader to serve as the next Chair of Women's Health, providing strategic oversight and clinical leadership for a comprehensive and growing Women's Health program. The Clinical Chair, Women's Health for Onvida Health will oversee all clinical functions in the outpatient and inpatient units of the women's health service line while fostering teamwork and collaboration between outpatient obstetrics and gynecology offices and the inpatient laborist team. The Chair will seek to push the Department forward, maintaining its existing strengths while consistently striving to make improvements to positively impact the care for women's health with a clear dedication to the mission and values of Onvida Health. The selected physician executive will exhibit an authentic enterprise leadership approach that considers industry trends and system-wide stakeholders when analyzing issues and proposing solutions - with a tendency to respond quickly to the changing dynamics of the healthcare industry. The Chair will build a shared inspirational vision and foster the culture of the OB/GYN Department to focus on: equity, accountability, engagement, collaboration, patient experience, and quality of the clinical, educational, and any research programs in accordance with the mission of Onvida. The Chair will lead the Women's Health services growth and development strategy in alignment with the organizational strategy within a dynamic environment. This role will collaborate closely with administrative leaders as well as other Department Chairs and key stakeholders for organizational and interdepartmental alignment and success of the entire organization. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, forward-thinking physician executive with the ability to maintain an active clinical practice and provide oversight for the OB/GYN clinical service line. The Chair, Women's Health will have leadership responsibility for planning, strategy and execution, developing, and coordinating system-wide OB/GYN activities and initiatives. Priorities should include the ongoing development of a fully centralized care delivery model that drives efficiency and consistency of processes across the organization. Specific Responsibilities Planning & Vision Serves as a Senior Leader within the organization by collaborating with Executive Team, Department Chairs, and other key roles. Leads a team of clinical and operations leaders to achieve optimal operations; includes budget and financial accountability, workforce and resource coordination while maintaining strong mission focus. Maintains clinical practice with scheduled patient care time. Expands and maintains relationships with the medical community, health agencies, local governments, and community organizations as appropriate in the service area. Provides broad level support to GME programs to integrate OB/GYN clinicians into the department's core work. Serves as a consulting partner in creating collaborative agreements with experts outside the organization to improve the expertise and success of the organization. The Chair will strategically expand comprehensive clinical offerings, ensuring adequate coverage across critical areas while boldly and creatively supporting the continued development of new and innovative programs. Assumes bottom-line responsibility for department capital and operating budgets. Meets or exceeds budgeted targets. Supervises department and departmental subsections. Oversee deployment of staff, employee development, performance and satisfaction. Defines criteria for staff privileges in conjunction with members of the department and making recommendations regarding same. Oversee the delivery of clinical care. Identifies new technology and treatments. Promotes progressive and best practices. Ensures that quality / performance improvement activities are working well. Oversees risk management activities including adjudication of patient complaints. Ensure an atmosphere of respect, professional support, and development for all stakeholders. Oversee the planning, implementation, and daily operations of Women's Health services, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant practice. Balance decisiveness with collaboration-encouraging innovation and new approaches while ensuring accountability for execution. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and programs to enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes. System Thinking & Collaboration Demonstrate understanding of how the Women's Health service line goals overlap with and contribute to the broader mission of Onvida Health.
