What you'll do A Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Medical Technologist) performs clinical laboratory procedures, examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by a clinical laboratory, as defined by Title Five of Article Five of the New York State public health law. A Clinical Laboratory Technologist provides prompt and accurate laboratory test results and/or prepares products for transfusion in support of patient care, including maintaining equipment and records, and performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance, which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, as determined by the department. Correlates knowledge and understanding of theory to independently solve problems and answer questions. May be assigned responsibility to direct, review, and /or verify work of other clinical laboratory personnel and or/students. Performs and verifies (reports) laboratory tests and/or prepares products for transfusion on acceptable specimens to obtain accurate data in accordance with established procedures and protocols and in a timely manner Performs quality control (QC) processes and proficiency testing (PT) as assigned Maintains laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents and/or supplies and documentation required in performance of job responsibilities. Follows all institution and department policies and procedures. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Direct, review, and /or verify work of other clinical laboratory personnel
