Certified Medication Technician (Med Tech) Job Summary The Certified Medication Technician (Med Tech) is responsible for the safe, accurate administration of medications to residents in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and facility policies. The Med Tech supports residents’ health and well-being while maintaining proper documentation and communication with nursing staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications according to the Medication Administration Record (MAR) Verify resident identity and medication accuracy (right resident, medication, dose, time, route) Observe residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in condition Report concerns, refusals, or errors promptly to nursing staff or supervisors Document all medication administration accurately and timely Assist with medication setup and inventory per facility policy Maintain medication carts and storage areas in a clean, secure manner Follow all state regulations, infection control practices, and safety guidelines Provide respectful, compassionate interaction with residents Assist with basic resident needs as allowed during medication passes Qualifications High school diploma or GED Certified Medication Technician certification (state-approved) Current CPR/First Aid certification (preferred or required) Ability to read, write, and document clearly in English Strong attention to detail and time-management skills Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift or assist residents as required by the facility Manual dexterity to administer medications accurately Work Environment Assisted living or long-term care facility Fast-paced during medication passes Requires accuracy, reliability, and professionalism
