Machine Operator – PEMB & Structural Steel Fabrication Job Type: Full-Time Location: Pearland, TX About the Role We are a growing structural steel and pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) fabrication company seeking experienced Machine Operators to join our shop floor team. You will operate heavy fabrication and automated equipment to produce structural steel components and PEMB systems to spec, on time, and to quality standards. Responsibilities Operate CNC drill lines and beam drill lines for structural steel processing Operate angle lines for punching, shearing, and forming structural angles to length and spec Set up and run plasma cutting machines for plate, flange, and custom profile cuts; adjust cut parameters for material thickness and grade Operate pull-through welders (MIG/flux-core) for continuous weld runs on PEMB secondary framing components such as purlins, girts, and eave struts Run and monitor controlled automation systems including programmable material handling, automated feed lines, and CNC-controlled fabrication equipment Input job parameters, monitor automated cycles, and intervene to correct faults, misfeeds, or dimensional errors during production runs Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication tickets, and cut lists Set up machines for production runs including tooling changes, feed rates, and program selection Perform quality checks on finished parts for dimensional accuracy and conformance to specs Operate material handling equipment including overhead cranes and forklifts to move steel members Perform routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting Track production output and report delays, material issues, or equipment problems to the shop foreman Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with shop safety policies Work alongside welders, fabricators, and detailers to meet production schedules Requirements 2+ years of experience operating fabrication machinery in a structural steel or PEMB shop Hands-on experience with angle lines, plasma cutting machines, and pull-through welders required Experience operating or monitoring controlled automation and CNC-driven equipment in a production environment Familiarity with PEMB components (frames, purlins, girts, base plates, eave struts) preferred Experience with beam drill lines (Ficep, Peddinghaus, or similar) a strong plus Ability to read shop drawings, blueprints, and material lists Forklift and overhead crane certification preferred Basic math skills for measurements and part verification Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Overtime available Health benefits Stable, growing company with long-term opportunity Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour Work Location: In person
