Position: Coach, Girls Cheer Varsity Assistant Salary Schedule/Day Rate: (Subject to Change): Extra Duty Stipend Schedule Benefits: Non-Benefit Eligible Agreement: Seasonal Hours: Part-time position, variable hours Reports to: Athletic Director/Principal/ Superintendent FLSA Status: Stipend About the Role The coach position provides leadership by helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem. As an athletic coach you will instruct student athletes in a specific sports activity. In addition, the coach will maintain and develop an efficient and competitive team environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Demonstrate proper sportsmanship and respect for prayers, officials, opponents, fans and other coaches. Work with students to promote strong learning environments in and out of the classroom while providing a safe environment. Ability to motivate student athletes to participate and sustain their interest in the program. Work effectively with student athletes of varying abilities, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork. Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to and keep abreast of AIA rules and regulations. Assume responsibility for inventory, selection and care of equipment. Ability to supervisor, organize, and motivate coaching staff at all levels. Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to implement effective coaching theory. Serve as a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the community. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, staff and school administration. Maintain good public relations with the media, boosters, parent officials, players, fans, etc. Communicate with parents, athletes, and school personnel regarding registration deadlines, fees, academic requirements, etc. Adhere to all Ethical Guidelines for Coaches. Apply discipline in a positive, firm and consistent manner. Provide requested information to school officials and AIA in a timely manner. Assist the Athletic Director in developing game schedules, scheduling practices, facility use, transportation needs, and the program budget. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. What you Need High School Diploma or GED required Valid, Current Department of Public Safety Level One IVP fingerprint clearance card National Federation of State High Schools Association (NFHSA) certification, including but not limited to Concussion Course, Fundamentals of Coach Course, Bullying, Hazing & Inappropriate Behaviors Course, AIA Information Course, and sport specific courses Must meet all of the National High School Federation rules for coaches Understanding of an agreement with the district's goals of an athletic program Knowledge of coaching techniques and human behavior Positive, effective communication skills in dealing with students, employees, parents and the community Physical Demands The physical
