Job Description
BRIEF DESCRIPTION The purpose of this position is to identify violations of state and local laws and codes, and to maintain and enhance property values. This is accomplished by responding to violations, enforcing ordinances, interpreting ordinances, resolving disputes, maintaining records, and researching property information. Other duties include organizing information for public hearings, assisting the public, issuing citations, and preparing reports. LICENSING REQUIREMENTS Registered Code Enforcement Officer Certification by TDLR at one year of hire into the position; Active registration w/ Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Code Essential Functions 1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice. 2 L Abates violations as allowed by ordinances. Requests bids and inspects properties for violations, notifying owners or publishing addresses, re-inspecting properties and taking action if corrections not completed. 3 S Issues citations, prepares case packages, and testifies as necessary as a witness for the City of Wichita Falls for citations issued. 4 S Responds to violations by investigating complaints, patrolling the city, determining the violation, inspecting properties and construction, consulting with complainants, issuing citations, monitoring and following up on violations, re-inspecting properties, gathering visual documentation, and using compiled information to prepare violation letters. JOB CLASSIFICATION REQUIREMENTS -Description of Minimum Job Requirements- Formal Education Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
