Job Title Non-exempt (compensatory and/or overtime eligible; additional compensation to include annual work boot allowance); full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.; full-benefits Placement as Inspector, Electrical Inspector or Plumbing Inspector can occur depending on qualifications of selected candidate. This technical position involves independent on-site inspection of primarily residential building, plumbing and electrical installations to assure compliance with State and County regulations and requirements. NOTE: The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate, with limited exception. Essential Duties And Job Responsibilities Inspect building, plumbing and electrical installations during construction; examine completed installations for use of proper materials and procedures Maintain records of inspections Check plans and specifications for installations Confer with a Chief Inspector on difficult enforcement problems Respond to electronic, telephone and in-person inquiries regarding residential building, plumbing and electrical code requirements and other departmental issues Drive a County vehicle to various sites throughout the County to inspect building, plumbing and electrical installations during construction and upon completion to assure the use of proper materials and procedures Prepare and maintain forms and reports related to inspections performed Access the permits tracking system and other automated data sources to research, review and verify information Participate in the nonresidential inspection of building, plumbing, electrical and other possible trades, as needed Perform building, plumbing and electrical plan reviews on commercial projects and other structures, as needed Perform other related duties as required To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to perform all essential functions satisfactorily.
