Commercial Lines Account Executive Position Summary: The Commercial Lines Account Executive is responsible for driving the retention and growth of an assigned book of business while actively pursuing new commercial opportunities. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering tailored insurance and risk management solutions, strengthening long-term relationships, and enhancing the agency’s brand presence. As a key contributor to agency success, the Account Executive leads retention initiatives, identifies cross-selling opportunities, and supports new business development, all while maintaining a high standard of service, professionalism, and technical expertise. Key Responsibilities: Client Relationship Management and Retention Manage a designated book of business with a target retention rate of 98–100% Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships to ensure account stability and satisfaction Collaborate with Account Managers to address service needs in a timely, accurate, and professional manner Conduct regular coverage reviews, identify gaps, and recommend appropriate risk management solutions Drive client engagement through proactive communication, scheduled meetings, and consistent follow-up Technical Expertise and Operational Excellence Serve as a subject matter expert on coverage, underwriting guidelines, and carrier products Provide technical guidance and support to team members on complex accounts Ensure accurate and complete documentation within the agency management system Prepare applications, policy changes, and required documentation in alignment with agency standards Follow established workflows and best practices for placing and servicing business Sales & Business Development Identify and pursue new commercial business through networking, referrals, outreach, and community involvement Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to evaluate client exposures and recommend solutions Develop and present customized insurance proposals, clearly communicating value beyond price Maintain an active and organized sales pipeline within the CRM system Professional Development Stay current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and market developments through ongoing education and professional engagement Participate in continued education and licensing activities to maintain compliance Contribute to agency culture by supporting team collaboration and company events Support special projects or other duties as assigned by leadership Qualifications: High School Diploma required Active New Jersey Property & Casualty license required Minimum of 3 years of commercial insurance service and/or sales experience Strong knowledge of commercial property & casualty coverages and carrier products Skilled in promoting and selling services with a client-focused approach Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with agency management systems (e.g., AMS360 or Applied Epic) and CRM platforms Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, carriers, and business partners Results-driven, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Willingness to travel as needed Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Office Location: 492 Franklin Avenue, Nutley, NJ 07110 (Hybrid Work Options) Benefits
