Refrigeration Technician Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician to join our commercial refrigeration service team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration, HVAC systems, and related mechanical equipment across various property facilities primarily in Georgia. Your HVAC/R expertise will ensure optimal performance of refrigeration units, air conditioning systems, and other mechanical components, contributing to the smooth operation of our services. HVAC/R Duties & Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration systems and commercial HVAC/R equipment. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC/R design plans to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs. Conduct routine inspections of refrigeration units, air conditioning systems, boilers, plumbing fixtures, and mechanical equipment to prevent failures. Perform field service tasks such as appliance repair, equipment repair, welding, and component replacement to ensure system integrity. Use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and other electrical testing devices to identify electrical faults within HVAC/R systems. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs for all refrigeration repairs performed. Operate a personal vehicle safely for transportation of refrigeration equipment or parts between sites as needed. Collaborate with team members on HVAC design modifications or upgrades to improve system efficiency. Ensure compliance with safety standards related to refrigerants (including ammonia), plumbing codes, electrical codes, and environmental regulations. HVAC/R Qualifications Work is performed primarily throughout the state of Georgia but must be able to travel up to 20% of the time. Vehicle and travel accommodations are provided. Minimum of 5 years proven experience as a refrigeration service technician specializing in refrigeration, HVAC/R systems. 6 years preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration equipment repair. Skilled in reading schematics and technical drawings related to HVAC/R design and refrigerant systems. Proficiency with electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters; basic brazing skills are a plus. Knowledge of plumbing systems and general construction practices relevant to refrigeration projects and maintenance, as it pertains to commercial HVAC/R equipment. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a personal vehicle safely. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges. Physical Requirements for Refrigeration Technician Must be able to discern color to identify color-coded wiring. Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and maneuver heavy equipment using specialized equipment. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel to use specialized electrical tools, operate equipment, and install wires and cable through conduit.
