Job Description
Overview Join our new learning center for nonspeaking autistics as a Spell to Communicate (S2C) Communication Regulation Partner (CRP). Our learning center provides an alternative education environment for our spellers who are not supported in a traditional school setting. Academic instruction will take place Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm. Spellers will need to be supported through general education lessons, art, and music activities. The role requires high-level communication skills, patience, and a strong grasp of the English language for spelling/grammar accuracy. Objective: Teach purposeful motor skills to nonspeaking, minimally speaking, or unreliably speaking individuals, enabling them to spell on letterboards and keyboards to communicate effectively. Role of CRP: CRPs support the "sensory-motor differences" of the speller, helping them maintain the focus and calm needed to point accurately. Training & Certification: CRPs are trained through organizations like I-ASC (International Association for Spelling as Communication) and Spellers. We will pay for training. Job Responsibilities: Coaching spellers to move from concrete to abstract communication. Implementing strategies for emotional and physical regulation. Supporting the use of letterboards and keyboards Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Work Location: In person
