Job SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Companion to provide engaging, supportive, and personalized care for a young man on the autism spectrum in Waxahachie.This vital role involves fostering a safe, nurturing environment while assisting with daily activities, social interactions, and community engagement.The ideal candidate will bring energy, patience, and a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference through direct support and compassionate caregiving.Duties Provide companionship and emotional support to the young man, encouraging social interaction and participation in activities both at home and within the community.Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, hygiene, and mobility support.Monitor health and safety by observing behavioral cues, vital signs, and overall well-being; respond promptly to any concerns or emergencies.Support medication management and adherence to care plans under supervision, ensuring safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations.Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs; assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and organizing to maintain a safe living environment.Utilize specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary; assist with transfers safely while adhering to proper protocols.Engage in activities designed to promote development, independence, and social skills tailored to the individual's interests and goals.Qualifications Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or in assisted living or home health settings is highly preferred.Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or dementia care are advantageous.Demonstrated ability to observe patient behavior carefully and respond appropriately; patience and compassionate communication skills are essential.Ability to perform light physical tasks including lifting, transferring, or supporting mobility needs; experience with heavy lifting or use of patient transfer equipment is a plus.Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care planning processes is desirable.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation related to care activities and observations.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred for community outings or appointments.Join us in making a positive impact by providing dedicated companionship that enriches lives through compassionate care!
