Job Summary The Compensation Manager provides subject-matter expertise and leadership for the design, implementation, communication, and administration of Harley-Davidson's compensation programs. This includes base pay, short- and long-term incentive plans, global compensation frameworks, and regulatory compliance.Working in close partnership with the Compensation team, Human Resources, and business leaders, this role supports the strategic direction of compensation programs in alignment with the company's Total Rewards philosophy. The role serves as a trusted internal advisor, ensuring compensation programs attract and retain talent, reinforce desired behaviors, and reward achievement of successful business results.The Compensation Manager ensures that compensation programs are internally equitable, externally competitive, and administered in full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Job Responsibilities Competitive Compensation Analysis: Oversees the completion of ad hoc and annual market evaluations of positions and analyses to establish competitive position; Manages the portfolio of compensation surveys; Manages consulting projects including recommendation and selection of vendors; and performs special studies, analysis and recommendations on compensation issues as needed. Communication: Oversees the communication and administration of all compensation programs offered by the company. Develops effective communications supporting the compensation programs which serve to support our employee value proposition and drive business results. Manages all compensation vendor relationships. Provides user input to all internal and external systems which support compensation delivery to participants. Works with outside actuaries, lawyers and auditors to ensure compliance with all regulations. Policy and Program Administration Develops, implements and administers compensation policies and programs; has involvement in supporting the preparation of materials being presented to senior management and the Human Resources Committee of the Board of directors; ensures quality services are delivered to the internal customer and oversees fair and equitable program administration. Program Design Creates a partnership with business leaders and human resources partners to ensure compensation initiatives are closely aligned with the needs of the business and effectively communicated to employees. This will be achieved by: Partnering with key constituents to assess, address, and outline current and future themes and strategic directions for the business Translating business metrics into successful compensation strategies/initiatives Monitoring compliance and effectiveness of compensation programs and making changes where needed Identifying and developing future initiatives to fill gaps in existing programs or recommending changes to programs based upon company objectives, competitive market trends and employee feedback. Education Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Required Experience Requirements This position typically requires a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in compensation, including at least 3 years of people management experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following: Strong knowledge of local and federal regulations governing compensation programs. Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment, make informed decisions, and solve complex compensation challenges. Proven effectiveness as a coach, consultant, and leader. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong focus on stakeholder experience and customer service.
