Job Description
JOB Responsible for technical, operational, and training support for the agency’s mission-critical CAD system. This position ensures the reliability, accuracy, and performance of all CAD-related hardware, software, and peripheral equipment used within the Combined Communications Division and mobile platforms . Includes daily maintenance for GEO base tables, performing routine back-ups, maintenance, trouble shooting, coordinating and supervising the preventive maintenance and repair of all computer equipment used in the center. Shall possess an extensive knowledge in computer hardware and software. Other responsibilities include research, coordination and implementation of computer related projects for the Combined Communications Center.This role directly supports operational continuity, reduces single-point-of-failure risk, and enhances the Center’s ability to deliver timely and effective emergency communications services. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the CAD System Administrator. Performance is evaluated through conferences, observation, results obtained, appropriate employee performance appraisals, and oral/written reports. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Diagnose and resolve CAD-related technical issues, including software errors, hardware failures, connectivity problems, and user-reported malfunctionsAssist in the installation, testing, and deployment of CAD software updates, patches, and version upgradesMaintain system documentation, configuration records, and equipment inventoriesSupport data integrity through routine audits, validation checks, and quality-control processesCoordinate with IT, vendors, and service providers to escalate and resolve complex system issuesMaintain, configure, and update all CAD workstations, servers, peripherals, and related equipment within the Communications CenterConsult with in-service instructors regarding CAD training for all new staff members hiredProvide technical assistance with all CAD-related projectsMonitor system performance and implement corrective actions to prevent service disruptionsObtain statistical data and generate reports using Crystal Report queries or any other reporting tool that is suitable and/or available for the required tasksWrite operational procedures manuals documenting current systems such as CAD Records and Microsoft ProductsServe, as needed, on designated committees for the Communications DivisionPrepare scheduled reports and statistical information regarding communications activities SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Knowledge of the policies and procedures for the agencyAble to present a positive, professional imageAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other agency representatives and the publicKnowledge of the legal aspects and regulations concerning the operation of a public safety communications centerAbility to plan, schedule, and coordinate a variety of projects and programsAbility to troubleshoot and maintain personal computersAbility to present facts and recommendations effectively orally and in writingAbility to maintain confidentiality
