Requisition ID: 180183 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Eastern District Department: Field Supervision Market: Transportation Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview Our Concrete Superintendent leads Kiewit’s self‑perform concrete operations in the field, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all concrete activities—including formwork, rebar, embeds, placement, finishing, and curing—on large, complex heavy civil, industrial, and vertical construction projects. The Concrete Superintendent plays a critical role in maintaining Kiewit’s reputation for delivering challenging work on time, on budget, and with an uncompromising commitment to safety. District Overview Kiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC. We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Eastern District’s work predominately exists within the Great Lakes Area, Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date. Must be able to travel and relocate as frequently as business needs require. These projects are happening in large cities and small towns, so you have a chance to experience it all! Responsibilities Provide supervisory direction of craft workers via the general foreman and foreman, managing the performance of productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence for all concrete related work. Ensure formwork, rebar, embeds, and placement activities meet Kiewit standards, providing clear direction, coaching and mentorship to crews. Champion Kiewit's "Nobody Gets Hurt" safety culture Liaison between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance of construction drawings and specifications, review for constructability and accuracy. Lead daily safety bridfings, task hazard analysis and crew huddles. Coordinate and interface effectively with other superintendents and subcontractors, as well as Kiewit staff personnel and leadership to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence. Develop detailed pour plans, sequencing and look ahead schedules. Coordinate with General Superintendent/Construction Manager to align concrete operations with overall project milestones. Maintain daily reports, including manpower, equipment, quantities, and progress. Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate Coordinate with suppliers, testing labs, and trucks, management equipment, and ensure materials are delivered, staged and installed correctly. Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company’s non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies. Ensure compliance with Kiewit Safety policies, OSHA standards and project specific requirements. Qualifications 5+ years’ concrete supervision experience on heavy civil, industrial or power projects. Previous Knowledge/experience In Heavy Civil Construction Setting Required Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents Strong knowledge of formwork systems (Peri, Doka, EFCO, etc.), rebar installation, and concrete placement Proven ability to lead and motivate craft workers in a self‑perform environment Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and lift plans Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills Experience on Kiewit or similar large‑scale EPC, heavy civil, or industrial project ACI certifications, OSHA 30, or equivalent.
