Job OverviewBarrier Building, Inc.6893 Supply Way Boise, ID 83716 Position Title:Estimator - Commercial Construction Reports To:President & Vice President Summary:The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects from conceptual design through final bid.This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local industry pricing, along with the ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and subcontractor proposals.Responsibilities: Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and scope of work. Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for all trades and phases. Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids. Develop and maintain cost databases, historical pricing, and estimate templates. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure complete and accurate estimates. Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions. Assist in change order pricing, budget updates, and project forecasting as needed. Participate in pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3-7 years of estimating experience with a general contractor. Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and materials. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connected) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines. Takes initiative and tackles challenges with energy, urgency, and focus. Builds strong relationships and delivers high-value solutions that exceed client expectations.Compensation & Benefits: Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives/commissions.
