Construction Estimator - Detailed Responsibilities Review and Analyze Project Documents:Examine drawings, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents to fully understand project scope, requirements, and timelines.Identify discrepancies and request clarifications as needed.Prepare Quantity Take-Offs:Accurately measure and calculate material quantities and labor requirements from plans using estimating software and manual methods.Develop Detailed Cost Estimates:Compile comprehensive estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor work, permits, overhead, and profit.Ensure pricing reflects current market conditions.Solicit and Evaluate Subcontractor & Supplier Quotes:Distribute bid packages, communicate scope requirements, compare proposals, and ensure all bids are complete and aligned with project specifications.Conduct Cost Analysis & Risk Assessment:Identify potential cost risks, scope gaps, and opportunities for cost savings.Recommend value engineering alternatives when appropriate.Prepare Bid Proposals:Assemble clear, organized, and competitive bid submissions, including cost breakdowns, qualifications, and exclusions.Participate in Preconstruction Meetings:Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to review scope, budgets, and scheduling considerations.Maintain Cost Databases:Update historical cost data, unit pricing, labor rates, and subcontractor performance records for future estimates.Support Contract & Change Order Pricing:Assist in pricing revisions, scope changes, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle.Monitor Market Trends:Stay informed on material pricing fluctuations, labor availability, and industry trends to ensure accurate forecasting.Ensure Compliance:Verify estimates align with company standards, safety regulations, building codes, and contractual requirements.Job Type:Full-time Pay:$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year Benefits:Health insurance Paid time off Experience:Construction estimating:1 year (Required) Ability to Commute:Houston, TX 77087 (Required) Ability to Relocate:Houston, TX 77087:Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location:In person.
