Job Description
Piper Maddox has partnered with a leading energy infrastructure EPC contractor to search for multiple Construction Managers to support transmission and substation capital projects across Kentucky (Louisville, Lexington, and surrounding areas). This organization is a rapidly growing player within the U.S. energy infrastructure space, delivering utility-scale transmission, substation, solar, and BESS projects nationwide. Backed by a well-established, family-owned business with over 100 years of industry experience, they combine strong financial backing with an agile, collaborative culture. They are a key delivery partner to a major U.S. utility currently investing heavily across Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, with an estimated $800M infrastructure program over the next 7–10 years. The Role The Construction Manager will oversee construction activities across transmission and substation projects, ensuring safe, timely, and on-budget delivery. You will typically manage 2–3 sites simultaneously (more common on transmission projects), with work split roughly 70% transmission and 30% substation, depending on project needs. This is a full-time, site-based role in Kentucky, operating on a 5x10 schedule. The position offers strong long-term stability, consistent project flow, and the opportunity to work on large-scale utility infrastructure programs. Travel home is covered once per month. Key Responsibilities Manage construction execution across transmission lines and/or substation projects (69kV–230kV+). Oversee multiple active sites, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, and stakeholders to drive project delivery. Ensure compliance with all safety standards and best practices in high-voltage environments. Track project progress, productivity, and reporting requirements. Maintain strong communication with internal teams and client stakeholders. Qualifications 8–10+ years of transmission and/or substation construction experience. Strong experience working on high-voltage systems (typically 69kV, 138kV, 230kV+). OSHA 30 certification required. Proven ability to manage multiple crews and/or sites simultaneously. Strong understanding of safe work practices within transmission and substation environments. Solid administrative and reporting skills (Excel, Word, MS Project preferred). Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
