This is a 1099 contractor position on an active large-scale data center construction project in Manassas, Virginia . The project is managed by an established regional general contractor with a strong safety culture, and multiple trades are operating simultaneously on site. As the on-site Construction Safety Manager , you will be the primary safety presence on the project, working directly alongside construction management and subcontractors to enforce OSHA compliance , identify and mitigate hazards, and maintain a safe working environment across all active trade areas. With a 55–60+ hour weekly schedule and 1.5x overtime after 40 hours, contractors at the top of the pay range working a full overtime schedule can expect to gross over $100,000 annually. Manassas is one of the most active data center construction corridors in the country — experience on this project carries significant weight on any construction safety resume. RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct daily safety inspections across all active trade areas, identify hazards, document findings, and ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and applicable data center construction standards Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific risk management procedures to minimize workplace accidents and injuries in a multi-trade environment Collaborate with the GC project management team and subcontractors to integrate safety protocols into daily operations, scheduling, and pre-task planning Lead and conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, JHA reviews, and training sessions for all workers and incoming subcontractor crews Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incident reports, near-misses, corrective actions, and compliance documentation using construction management software Lead or support incident investigations, identify root causes, develop corrective action plans, and verify follow-through Stay current with evolving OSHA regulations and data center construction safety best practices and update site safety plans accordingly QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 5 years of construction site safety experience with a thorough working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and compliance management OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required ; OSHA 500 strongly preferred CHST, CSP, or STSC certification preferred — candidates actively pursuing certification will be considered Experience on data center, mission critical, large-scale commercial, or technology infrastructure construction projects a strong plus Demonstrated ability to enforce safety compliance with subcontractors across multiple simultaneous trades Proficient with construction management software for safety documentation and reporting (Procore, SiteForm, or similar) Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to engage field crews, trade foremen, subcontractors, and GC management effectively Ability to quickly assess hazards and implement effective mitigation strategies in fast-paced, multi-trade environments COMPENSATION DETAILS Base rate: $50–$55/hr. ( based on experience and qualifications ) Overtime: 1.5x for all hours over 40/week ($75–$82.50/hr.)
