Engagement Type: Contract (with extension potential) Location: On-site (Sunnyvale, CA) Duration: 8-10 weeks, project-based (initial cloud SaaS delivery) Role Description We are seeking an experienced software engineering contractor to lead cloud hosting, cloud delivery, and cloud operations aspects of a SaaS offering. This role will define, develop and implement a secure, scalable cloud architecture, introduce core SaaS capabilities, and establish a foundation for ongoing platform evolution. The position requires strong full-stack engineering capability combined with solid DevOps and cloud infrastructure expertise. The ideal candidate can operate independently as an independent contributor as well as be a team player, and make sound architectural decisions across backend, frontend, and cloud environments. Key Responsibilities Architect and implement a cloud-hosted SaaS deployment (Azure and AWS) Own cloud operations , including environment management, monitoring, logging, and alerting Implement DevOps best practices across build, release, and infrastructure lifecycle Establish CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows Own user onboarding and account management functions Evaluate and integrate managed cloud services where appropriate Implement security hardening and compliance as required Ensure production readiness (reliability, scalability, maintainability) Document architecture and operational processes Technical Environment Backend: Python Frontend: Angular (Material UI) Deployment Target: Cloud-hosted SaaS (Azure and AWS) Required Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure Strong DevOps expertise , including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and cloud operations Proven experience developing cloud-hosted commercial SaaS systems Strong backend development experience in Python Strong frontend experience with Angular Deep experience with Docker and containerized systems Experience implementing authentication, user management, and email workflows Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems Strong understanding of cloud security and operational best practices Preferred Qualifications Experience in multi-tenant SaaS architecture Experience balancing cloud-native services vs portability Familiarity with Kubernetes Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred) Experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.) Security & Compliance Expectations Strong emphasis on data security and system hardening Experience working in environments requiring structured security controls is highly valued Ability to apply security best practices pragmatically in a fast-moving build phase Candidate Profile Experienced engineer with strong cloud + DevOps + full-stack capability Has built and owned cloud-hosted SaaS platforms serving thousands of users Comfortable making architectural decisions under ambiguity (AWS vs Azure) Able to execute independently and deliver production-grade systems Focused on pragmatic, maintainable solutions
