Position Overview A well-established healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee and execute the full scope of accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a highly visible role suited for a senior accounting professional who brings both strategic perspective and a hands-on approach to financial management. The ideal candidate is a technically strong leader who takes ownership of the close process, holds their team to a high standard, and understands the nuances of healthcare finance. Key Responsibilities Oversee and actively perform month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts with a high degree of accuracy Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules; analyze variances and present findings to senior leadership Partner with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, cash application, and AR management Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors; prepare audit schedules and ensure ongoing compliance with GAAP and healthcare regulatory requirements Monitor daily cash activity, review disbursements and banking transactions, and maintain strong internal controls Lead and develop a small accounting team, providing guidance, reviewing output, and establishing SOPs to drive efficiency and accuracy Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements to close timelines and reporting processes Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred (physician groups, MSO, anesthesia, hospital, or similar) Strong working knowledge of GAAP and healthcare regulatory requirements Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with accounting and ERP systems Proven ability to manage and execute accounting functions in a fast-paced environment
