Job Description
Northbound Treatment Services is a nationally recognized private, residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment program for adults. Accredited by The Joint Commission, Northbound meets the highest quality standards for behavioral health and client care. Northbound is looking for a Cook (FT available) to support our Food Preparation team in our brand new state of the art kitchen facility. The Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, producing meals, and cleaning the workspace in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Joint Commission standards. Job Duties Produce, prepare and present food. Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods Present, garnish and arrange final dishes Occasionally serve food Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes Handle and store ingredients and food Maintain food safety and sanitation standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a cook or related culinary position is preferred. Catering experience a plus High volume, foodservice operations experience - highly desirable Current, valid driver’s license preferred Requires weekend and evening availability Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept and to which food must be prepared to avoid foodborne illness. Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment Accountability for the dishes they prepare measuring up to the expectations of management and customers alike Comprehension and organization to follow direct orders and recipes and to correctly prepare dishes to the standards of the restaurant Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting and dicing Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat and work shift Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Prior healthcare experience preferred. Familiarity with the twelve step program of recovery preferred, and if in recovery, a minimum one year continuous sobriety with strong interpersonal and communication skills, REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current ServSafe Certificate CPR and First Aid Certified High School Education/GED Required Valid California Class C Driver’s License Job Type: Full-time Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour Benefits 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid sick time Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
