We are looking for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, gastronomical experience, and collaborative culinary experimentation. The Abbey is a craft coffee and cocktail bar located in Brunswick, ME. Our deep appreciation for the history of food and beverage as an expression of love is the driving force behind The Abbey. Experience is welcome, but doesn't matter as much as finding the right person. As one of our chefs, you must be able to collaborate with our owners and culinary team to create innovative menu items that pair well with our drinks. You will be expected to complete tasks in a timely, efficient and accurate manner while meeting all client needs. Ultimately, you will help to set the course for our kitchen’s performance. Our intimate culinary team is a total of four-five (4-5) chefs who work together to create unique specials and baked goods, and regular innovative menu changes. A special interest in baking / pastry is welcomed and encouraged! Pay totals $23-27 an hour (base pay w/ kitchen fair wage addition). Part time with room to pickup as needed or available. Weekend availability is a must! Qualified candidates will – Have 1 year experience in from scratch/high paced kitchens but will train entry level candidates with an eagerness to learn Treat guest and co-workers with courtesy and respect Work in a clean and organized fashion Follow clearly documented food safety procedures Work as a team and take direction from colleagues Be able to read and follow written recipes, deal successfully with multitasking and be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment Exhibit a desire to learn and be challenged creatively Have a strong attention to detail and a positive attitude Have excellent attendance and punctuality Have a desire for continued growth Be able to work up to 40 hours per week Be available mornings, weekends, and some nights and holidays ServSafe certification is welcomed and encouraged We are a queer and woman owned business with a dedication to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for our employees and patrons.
