Job Description
Classified - PreK Auxiliary Teacher (To be considered for this position your application must be received by 4 PM of the closing date) Pre-K Auxiliary Teacher : Minimum requirement of a Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least nine credit hours of college coursework in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution. Must be at least 19 years of age and have basic communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking. Should exhibit potential for advancement and have a gentle, affectionate disposition in working with children. Must have the ability to work harmoniously with persons of different backgrounds without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex or age. Must be able to implement activities as directed, be proficient in record keeping, documentation and maintaining professional responsibilities. Must have sound mental and physical health. Must have the ability to lift, stoop, walk, carry, and reach overhead. Must be willing to relate positively to children and adults. Must perform other duties as assigned by teacher and/or Department of Early Childhood. Must be willing to attend meetings and/or work outside regular working hours whenever necessary. Must work collaboratively with the school. Must possess a valid driver's license and have own transportation. Current medical information required upon employment (physical and TB test). An auxiliary teacher must meet all of the following minimum requirements: Be at least 19 years of age. Possess a high school diploma or GED. Possess a Child Development Associate credential (CDA) OR at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution. Possess appropriate experience (at least 12 months) working in early childhood or experience in other OSR approved settings. The salary listed does not reflect the 2% raise for the 2026-27 school Official transcripts of college coursework or a copy of the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for all NEW auxiliary teachers must be submitted for review to OSR. **Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the WCBOE and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law.
