Description Position Summary Abode Communities seeks a Corporate Accounting Manager. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance/Controller, the primary functions of this position are to manage and oversee the daily activities of the operating property accounting unit, act as the liaison with our 3rd party accounting services provider, assist in corporate treasury management, and cash flow while working closely with the Finance department. In addition, this position will apply standardized US-GAAP accounting principles to financial reporting, review account schedules and supporting documentation, review general and standard journal entries, assist in budget preparation and development, audit support, and adhere to the reporting deadlines set by management. The Corporate Accounting Manager will manage and supervise a talented team of property accountants and Accounts Payable (AP) staff that currently serve 54 residential properties throughout Southern California. Property Management Accounting Operations Supervise and oversee financial statement reporting for all managed properties, including its general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accruals, payroll journal, and general journal using generally accepted accounting principles and practices; Act as primary liaison, communicating, developing, training staff, and implementing 3rd party accounting services while overseeing quality control of work product. 3rd Regular interaction and follow up with 3rd party accounting services management. Oversee monthly cash projection reports; working closely with CFO, AVP of F/P/A, and Finance Manager Assume responsibility for compliance to accounting procedures and work with AVP Finance in the further development of accounting procedures in accordance with US-GAAP, to support financial objectives; Monitor accounting office daily activities and ensure that Abode Communities policies are followed, and ensure efficiencies and organization in the property accounting unit; Oversee current property accounting systems and applications, and ensure that they are performing to standards Track property financial statements and other reports to ensure timeliness and accuracy; implement a quarterly cross-departmental review process comparing actuals vs budget Implement a more robust and timely annual property budgeting system Maintain a close working relationship with the CFO, AVP- Finance, VP, F/P/A, and VP, Property Management in the organization and regularly communicate to them property portfolio performance (updates/revisions/changes in the accounting department policies and procedures); Develop an onboarding and training program for property managers to ensure they fully understand the accounting related systems an
