Responsibilities Orrick's tax practice is seeking an associate with three to six years of experience (at least some of which is at a law firm) focused on the tax aspects of complex corporate and partnership transactions, including strategic and private equity M&A transactions and domestic and international tax planning and structuring. Experience working with growth-stage technology and life science companies and investors a plus. Candidates must be highly motivated and possess excellent academic credentials along with superior oral and written communication, logical reasoning, research and organizational skills. Preference will be given to candidates who would work from our San Francisco, Silicon Valley or Santa Monica offices. We will consider candidates in other locations (including candidates who desire to work remotely) on a case-by-case basis. Our tax group advises on a wide variety of tax matters impacting innovative high-growth businesses and their investors. Our tax team includes nationally prominent lawyers in the U.S. and internationally. Our firm's tax practice is noted in many professional guides, such as Chambers USA and Legal500. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience at a peer law firm, exceptional academic credentials, and strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Membership to the State Bar of the office of the state in which the candidate expects to be located is required.
