Correctional Officer I A chance to make a difference a start to your career in law enforcement Up to $10,000 hiring incentive pay The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill multiple regular, full-time positions in the class of Correctional Officer I at the Yolo County Sheriff's Office. Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis, and applicants that satisfy the minimum qualifications will be referred to the Sheriff's Office every Monday to be scheduled for a hiring panel interview. Applicants that pass the interview will be invited to the written exam. Successful candidates will be asked to begin the background process, which can potentially result in a conditional job offer. Selected candidates will be assigned to work at the Monroe Detention Center in Woodland, CA. Under direct supervision, to assist in the guarding, control, and supervision of inmates at an adult detention facility; and to do other related work as required. This is the entry level class into the Correctional Officer series. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of duties in inmate intake, processing, and custody; in a training capacity learn to perform the full range of correctional duties characteristic of the class of Correctional Officer II. Incumbents are expected to fully qualify for Correctional Officer II at the end of one year in this position. The following duties are typical of those performed by the incumbent in this classification; however, other duties may also be required: Receives, books and processes incoming inmates; prepares related paperwork; photographs inmates, and takes fingerprints. Maintains security through key, door, tool, and equipment control. Receives visitors; processes correspondence, phone calls and request slips. Controls contraband through routine facility and inmate searches; supervises the conduct and security of inmates in cells and in movement during meals, visitation, and institutiona
