Salary $6,140.00 - $12,426.00 Monthly Location Angola, LA Job Type Promotion Job Number 402-26-019 Department DOC-Louisiana State Penitentiary Opening Date 03/16/2026 Closing Date 3/21/2026 11:59 PM Central About this Job Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections - Corrections Services https://doc.la.gov/ LOUISIANA STATE PENITENTIARY Angola, LA At the Louisiana Department of Corrections, our mission is to promote public safety and strengthen communities through fair, professional, and responsive corrections services.We are committed to protecting the people of Louisiana with integrity, accountability, and a deep respect for the rights and dignity of all.This is a promotional opportunity for current LA Department of Corrections employees who have permanent status and are ready to advance in their career.This role requires a dedicated professional capable of managing complex correctional operations while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and integrity within Louisiana's largest correctional facility.The Louisiana State Penitentiary is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as a Corrections Assistant Warden 4, a key leadership position responsible for supporting the daily operations of one of the state's largest and most complex correctional institutions.Working closely with executive leadership, the Corrections Assistant Warden 4 assists in directing and managing major operational functions of the institution, including security operations, staff supervision, and administrative oversight.The incumbent supports the Warden in coordinating institutional activities, ensuring compliance with departmental regulations, and promoting effective communication between staff, departments, and leadership.This position plays a vital role in maintaining the safe, secure, and orderly operation of the facility while ensuring that institutional policies, procedures, and standards are consistently followed.The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership ability, sound judgment, and a commitment to professionalism in a correctional environment where accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence are essential.Minimum Qualifications One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above:Four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:1.Six years of full-time experience in any field; or 2.A bachelor's degree.OR A master's degree plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR A doctorate plus two years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:Evaluates institutional needs and maintains a security force for the Outcamps and Main Prison located at LSP.Provides direct supervision to subordinate Assistant Warden's through regular conferences and informal daily contact.Meets with them on a daily basis to discuss any problems, concerns, and decision making that may pertain to any matters outside the normal routine such as staff movement, inmate movement, weapons found, etc.Coordinates work between institutional departments whose activities impact one another giving direction and leadership toward the achievement of goals and objective.Responsible for the assignment and reassignment of all security staff Interprets all Department of Corrections regulations and institutional policies and procedures to employees, managerial and supervisory staff, state and local officials, law enforcement entities, and the general public.Reviews institutional practices and procedures in light of Federal and State laws to reduce possible civil law suits.Recommends changes in Department Regulations and Penitentiary Directives as needed to improve the operations of the institution.Work with adult male inmates of all custody levels - minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody.Will supervise maximum-security inmates and lower level security officers.Position-Specific Details
