Job Description
JOB CIVIL SERVICE POSITION * Collin County will only accept applications for this position until 5/26/2026 at 5:00 PM. Job Description Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Criminal Justice Information Specialist. This position processes inmate records by maintaining and processing civil documentation and arrest warrants. Administrative duties include compiling, maintaining and typing incident and offense reports, answering the phone, assisting callers and collecting statistical reports on departmental data, training and assisting personnel, responding to fax requests, and arranging and scheduling prisoner transfers and testifying in court when needed. Functions may vary by individual assignment. Work is performed under the direction of the Criminal Justice Information Supervisor.Performs other duties as assigned.Candidates must possess: Must have knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature, usually obtained with at least six months of advanced study past the high school equivalency.At least one year of experience is required. Ability to read arrest warrants, civil documentation, and correspondence.TLETS full access certification is preferred. The ability to pass a typing test at the rate of 35 wpm is required.Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Texas Operator’s Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record.Shift assignments are subject to change based on operational needs. Candidates should be able to work any assigned shift. The current shift assignment for this open position is from 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm. Days off will vary.Testing RequirementsThis position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above prior to the application deadline.If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 months that meets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again.If you have never taken our typing test, have not met the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take the test prior to the application deadline specified above in order for your application to be complete.Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Appointments are not required. Please be sure to bring your government issued photo ID for identification.
