Working for Wisconsin State Government may make you eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program Position Summary This position serves as the agency’s lead authority for cybersecurity operations, governance, and secure technical architecture. Working under the general supervision of the State IT Director, the Cyber Security Administrator provides direction and oversight for security work performed by network, system, server, and junior security staff. The role defines security requirements, evaluates risks, maintains security controls and baselines, and coordinates the work needed to implement them across the agency’s hybrid IT environment. The Cyber Security Administrator leads vulnerability management, incident response coordination, policy and standards development, and ongoing monitoring of enterprise security platforms. While not responsible for performing all configuration changes, the position ensures that technical teams carry out required security actions in alignment with NIST, CISA, and statewide standards. This position also plays a key role in preparing the agency for future security service enhancements, including integration with a virtual SOC provider, by establishing clear processes, telemetry expectations, and response workflows. The role requires strong analytical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to guide and coordinate multiple teams to maintain the security and resilience of agency systems. Salary Information Starting pay is between $52.46 and $54.70 per hour ($109,116 and $113,776 annually). This position is in the 07/32 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required. This is a State of Wisconsin Civil Service position. The DMA does not require current or previous military experience. All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employe
