Under supervision, monitors and maintains integrated security systems; analyzes overall threats and performance among various enterprise technology platforms, distributed networks and end-user computing devices. Provides support with cybersecurity hardware, software and services which may involve the use of distributed networks, local area networks, data transfer between operating systems, cloud services and other types of data networks and services. Incumbent responds to security issues submitted via City ticketing system and monitors computer networks for security issues; investigates security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents; and resolves detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard. Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Provides support with cybersecurity hardware, software and services which may involve the use of distributed networks, local area networks, data transfer between operating systems, cloud services and other types of data networks and services.Responds to security issues submitted via City ticketing system and other means.Monitors computer networks for security issues; investigates security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents; and resolves detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.Meets with user departments; provides guidance in analyzing operational technology needs to determine requirements, ensure security of systems and prepare reports of analyses.Recommends and reviews services, hardware, software, and network configurations to establish the best secure use of resources to meet City needs.Provides technical assistance in the repair, operation and maintenance of enterprise technology platforms.Provides installation, evaluation, and diagnosis of enterprise technology platforms. Recommends modifications for hardware, software, and services. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. Should the competitive process be suspended for this recruitment, the eligibility list may be limited to three (3) months.THE REQUIREMENTSApplicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for the examination and do not assure placement on the eligible list. High School Diploma or GED equivalent;ANDTwo (2) years of experience in cybersecurity practices.Possession and continued maintenance of a valid California Driver’s License is required at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current copy of their driving record.Selected eligible candidates will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment with the City of Fresno.Candidates selected for hiring consideration will be required to pass an extensive pre- employment background investigation.THE SELECTION PROCESSThe examination process may consist of the following: Written Examination - 100%: A job related online written exam will be given which may test a candidate's knowledge in the following areas: Storage Area Networking (SAN) technologies and Network Attached Storage (NAS) equipment, Microsoft Windows Server and Linux Operating Systems. Ability to analyze functional network requirements and specifications for computer hardware and software; train and provide support to staff, establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. A candidate must achieve a passing score in the written examination to secure placement on the eligible list. The written examination is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 13, 2026.VETERAN PREFERENCE REGULATIONSCandidates applying for veteran's preference are required to submit a copy of their DD214 with their application during the specified filing period. Evidence must be presented to indicate that the candidate was discharged honorably from the military service. Veterans, including City employees, must resubmit proof of honorable service for every examination for which veteran's preference credit is requested.
