Day Cook At Andrew Residence the Food Service Team prides itself on delivering a diverse menu of quality offerings, cafeteria-style, where diner choice is key. We value the creativity of our cooking staff to enhance the lives of residents. Note: Andrew Residence is not a skilled nursing home; pureed, texture modified foods are prepared. The primary responsibility of the Cook is to provide wholesome, nutritious, and attractive food served at the appropriate temperature. The Cook reports to the Food Services Director. 1 Cook position available - Salads & Desserts Cook 10:15 AM - 6:45 PM, Mondays, Wednesdays-Fridays (off every Tuesday) and E/O weekend (Saturday & Sunday 10:15 AM - 6:45 PM) Starting Pay Rate: $21.32/hour, with a $0.50/hour increase after 90 days of employment Primary Responsibilities Review daily menu and prepare meals as indicated on a timely basis. Anticipate and complete food preparation tasks (e.g., transfer frozen meat to walk-in cooler in accordance with meat-thawing schedule). Prepare and serve all food items using quality ingredients at appropriate temperature. Utilize recipes and correct portion control to provide a consistent product and reduce unnecessary waste to improve cost-control efforts. Record and monitor food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking, and serving Observe all food safety, handling and storage in compliance with Andrew policy and licensing requirements. Label, date, and properly store all foods. Comply with all state and local regulations for a clean, safe, and sanitary food preparation environment. Responsible for washing and sanitizing food service equipment at own station. Follow established safety procedures while operating kitchen equipment. Monitor inventory of requisite food products, and supplies. Report equipment safety and maintenance issues to the Food Service Director. Promote the development and maintenance of a collaborative, effective work environment. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent One year cooking experience preferred Ability to read, write, and speak English Ability to relate to residents and associates in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: Cooking experience in the healthcare or hospitality field Quantity or batch cooking experience ServSafe Manager and/or Food Handler Certification Benefits: Health & vision insurance Employer-paid Dental insurance & life insurance 401(k) Paid time off 1 Free meal/shift $0.50 raise after successful completion of 90 days of employment Dependent Care Accounts (with 20% match of employee contribution) Free parking on-site & Close to bus lin The Mission of Andrew Residence is to promote compassion and respect in a therapeutic residential community where quality mental and physical health services are provided.
