Job Description
Job OverviewJoin our team as a Defensible Space Laborer and play a vital role in wildfire prevention and community safety.In this energetic position, you will assist in creating and maintaining defensible spaces around properties by clearing brush, trimming vegetation, and performing other landscaping tasks that reduce fire risk.Your efforts will directly contribute to protecting homes, public spaces, and natural resources.This paid role offers an opportunity to work outdoors, stay active, and make a meaningful impact in wildfire-prone areas.Duties Clear brush, dead vegetation, and other combustible materials from designated areas around properties Trim trees and shrubs to maintain safe distances from structures and power lines Remove debris such as fallen branches, leaves, and weeds to reduce fire hazards Assist with the installation and maintenance of firebreaks and defensible space zones Operate basic landscaping tools such as trimmers, shovels, rakes, and blowers safely and effectively Follow safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or injuries during outdoor work Document completed tasks accurately and report any hazards or issues to supervisors promptly Experience Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or outdoor manual labor is preferred but not required; training will be provided Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality workmanship Willingness to learn about wildfire mitigation techniques and safety procedures Good communication skills for teamwork and following instructions effectively This position is ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are committed to safety, and want to contribute to community resilience against wildfires.No prior experience is necessary--just a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a desire to make a difference! This job is temporary, lasting from April 1 to September 1.There is travel every week, often with overnight stays.Perdiem to be paid as well on the overnight trips.Pay:$24.00 - $25.00 per hour Benefits:On-the-job training Work Location:On the road.
