Job Summary LUX Dental is a brand-new modern PPO and Medicare dental office opening in Fort Myers and we are looking for an experienced, motivated, and team-oriented Dental Assistant to grow with us. Requirements Minimum 3 years dental assisting experience Bilingual required (English/Spanish) Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Current X-Ray Certification Must be able to scan and fabricate temporary crowns Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment Must be dependable and able to work Saturdays Strong communication and customer service skills Team player mentality is a MUST Responsibilities: Assist doctor chairside during procedures Take digital x-rays and scans Fabricate temporary crowns Prepare and break down operatories Maintain sterilization and OSHA protocols Ensure an exceptional patient experience Work collaboratively with clinical and front office team members Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, urgency, professionalism, and strong work ethic. Duties Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use following aseptic techniques. Take dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes. Support administrative tasks by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation. Perform clinical duties such as taking vital signs, medical history updates, and assisting with medical imaging procedures when necessary. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in compliance with infection control standards and OSHA guidelines. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and understanding of dental terminology. Experience with Open Dental for managing patient records efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively. Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry along with general medical terminology for accurate documentation. Familiarity with infection control practices including aseptic technique to prevent cross-contamination. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and clinical staff. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
