Full-time/Regular, Grade 12 (Minimum of range is $24.18/hr) Tooele City is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to serve as Deputy City Recorder . This position plays a key role in supporting the accuracy, transparency, and legal compliance of public meetings and official City records. This is not an entry-level administrative position-this role requires advanced coordination, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive responsibilities in a public sector environment. Under the direction of the City Recorder, the Deputy City Recorder coordinates City Council meeting processes, including preparation of agendas and packets, posting of legally required notices, and maintenance of official records. The position attends and supports Wednesday evening City Council meetings and other assigned meetings, operating audio/visual, recording, and live broadcast systems and assisting with real-time meeting needs. Responsibilities also include preparing and finalizing meeting minutes, administering public records requests (GRAMA), and supporting the City's records management and retention program. The position serves as a back-up to the City Recorder and may perform delegated statutory duties as needed. Work is performed under strict legal deadlines where accuracy and timeliness are essential to City operations and compliance. Candidates must be able to attend regular Wednesday evening meetings and maintain a flexible schedule. Our Ideal Candidate Is highly organized, technically proficient, and able to remain professional, neutral, and composed in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. Possesses either an associate's degree in a related field with two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative experience, or a high school diploma (or equivalent) with four (4) years of progressively responsible experience. Demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with standard business software are required. A valid Utah driver license and driver record that meets Tooele City's insurance and risk management standards is required. Experience in municipal government, records management, or supporting boards or councils is preferred. Must obtain Notary Public certification and Certified Records Officer designation within six (6) months. * DISCLAIMER Tooele City is a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
