LAWRENCE COUNTY JOB OPENING NOTICE Date:February 4, 2026 Job Title:Lawrence County Deputy Sheriff Department/ Office Sheriff's Office Closing Date:When Position is Filled Start Date:To Be Set Starting Pay:$31.69-$35.02 Work Schedule:Hours will vary, including nights, weekends and holidays.Submit Application/ Tavis Little, Chief Deputy Resume to:50 Tatanka Dr, Deadwood SD, SD 57732, or 605-578-4443.Description of Duties:Conducts law enforcement duties independently or in conjunction with municipal, county, or other enforcement personnel.The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for the enforcement of laws, prevention and suppression of crime, and the protection of the public.Experience/Education:Previous law enforcement experience desirable.South Dakota Law Enforcement Certificate or eligibility for reciprocity preferred.Capable to obtain SD Law Enforcement Certificate required.College or Military desirable, High school diploma or GED required.Additional Information:Must have a working knowledge of Patrol Tactics and Duties.Must be able to reason logically and make sound decisions in an emergency.Must have good interpersonal skills in working with offenders, witnesses, victims, court officers and the general public.Must have a valid SD driver's license.Must pass medical exam, minimum physical standards, pass a pre-employment drug screen, written exam, polygraph, and psychological exam.Lawrence County is an equal opportunity employer.Job Type:Full-time Pay:$31.69 - $35.02 per hour Expected hours:40.0 - 50.0 per week Benefits:Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Parental leave Retirement plan Work Location:In person.
