Job Description
Dermatology Medical Assistant Location: West Pasco & Hernando County, Florida Practice: Gulf Coast Medical Center Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time Available Position Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient-focused Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our growing outpatient dermatology team. This individual will work closely with our dermatology providers and clinical staff to deliver exceptional patient care and an outstanding patient experience. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role is essential to maintaining efficient clinic operations, supporting quality dermatologic care, and ensuring a smooth patient workflow throughout the day. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Support Assist dermatology providers with examinations, biopsies, injections, excisions, and minor dermatologic procedures Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring proper sterilization, setup, and equipment readiness Obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, and accurately update patient medical histories Document clinical information in the EMR with accuracy and professionalism Assist with specimen handling, labeling, and preparation for pathology Patient Care & Education Provide compassionate instruction regarding wound care, biopsy aftercare, medications, and skincare regimens Support patients throughout their visit to ensure comfort and understanding Address patient questions and communicate concerns to providers appropriately Promote a positive, welcoming patient experience from check-in through discharge Workflow & Operations Coordinate patient flow and assist with scheduling and follow-up appointments Maintain inventory levels and proactively restock supplies and treatment areas Support office quality initiatives, safety standards, and compliance protocols Collaborate with providers, medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care Documentation & Billing Support Enter and update clinical documentation in accordance with dermatology workflows and protocols Assist with dermatology procedure coding and billing support as needed Ensure accurate and timely chart completion and task management Qualifications & Skills Dermatology experience preferred, but motivated candidates with strong medical assisting backgrounds are encouraged to apply Medical Assistant certification preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, sterile technique, and outpatient clinical workflows Ability to accurately obtain vital signs and assist with procedures Familiarity with EMR systems and dermatology coding is a plus Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a busy clinic setting Professional demeanor with a patient-centered mindset Willingness to learn and grow within the practice Schedule Monday–Friday 8-hour shifts No weekends Compensation & Benefits Pay based on experience Opportunities for growth and advancement Supportive team-based environment Work with an established multi-specialty medical organization serving the community for over 40 years To apply, please submit your resume and contact information for consideration.
