Purpose Performs and supports the design, engineering, and technical evaluation of substations and substation-related systems under the guidance of senior engineers. This role applies foundational engineering principles to routine and moderately complex tasks, ensures compliance with applicable standards, and contributes to the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of substation infrastructure. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Support substation engineering projects under the direction of senior engineers and project leads. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support the coordination and integration of substation designs. Participate in technical reviews and knowledge-sharing activities to build professional and technical skills. At The Operational And Company Level Perform detailed engineering design tasks for substations, including new builds, expansions, and upgrades, with guidance as needed. Interpret and apply applicable industry standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI, NESC) and company specifications under supervision. Assist with project planning activities, including preparation of scopes of work, engineering estimates, and schedules. Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and constructability reviews as a contributing team member. Coordinate assigned engineering deliverables with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams. Support compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all designs. Do the Work Prepare substation physical and/or electrical design deliverables, which may include: One-line and three-line diagrams AC/DC schematics General arrangement and detail drawings Protection and control drawings Equipment specifications and bills of material Grounding, conduit, bus, and equipment foundation designs Perform engineering calculations (e.g., AC/DC loading, grounding, conductor clearances) with review by senior engineers. Review vendor drawings and technical data for conformance with project requirements. Support field activities during construction, testing, and commissioning by assisting with issue resolution as directed. Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Entry level position.
