You’ll Support Meaningful Work By: Leading and supporting end-to-end design projects across all phases, including programming, concept development, design development, documentation, and installation support. Translating business goals, user needs, and project constraints into clear spatial concepts, layouts, and design narratives for internal and external audiences. Applying strong design fundamentals and growing technical knowledge to develop on-brand, functional, and visually compelling interior environments. Collaborating with cross-functional internal partners (Sales, Dealers, Product Marketing, Brand, Operations) and external A&D partners to ensure feasibility, alignment to standards, and successful project execution. Managing multiple tasks and small-to-medium project workstreams, proactively communicating progress, risks, and design implications impacting scope, schedule, or budget. Balancing design quality with value awareness by proposing solutions that meet functional needs, budget considerations, and project constraints. Engaging in continuous learning and studio collaboration by participating in critiques, sharing knowledge, and staying current on workplace trends, portfolio updates, and evolving tools. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. 3–6 years of professional experience in interior design, interior architecture, or a related commercial interiors environment. Strong design fundamentals, including space planning, composition, color and material application, and presentation development. Proven technical understanding of construction, building systems, architectural detailing, acoustics, lighting, and furnishings. Portfolio demonstrating the ability to translate user and business needs into clear design concepts, layouts, and presentations. Experience leading a main project or key workstream with guidance, coordinating tasks and deliverables across project phases. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to incorporate feedback from cross-functional partners into design solutions. Proven knowledge of commercial interiors processes, project phases, and collaboration with internal and external partners. Proven foundational knowledge of materials and finishes, with an interest in color, material, and finish (CMF) exploration. Demonstrated ability to support an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued. Proven awareness of sustainability and wellness considerations and interest in how they influence planning, materials, and product selection. Desired Skills and Experience Experience working in an A&D consultancy or similar design-focused environment. Strong user- and customer-centric mindset, incorporating customer needs into interior planning recommendations. Advanced experience with FF&E specification processes, including coordination with IT/AV partners. Ability to apply business context—budgets, priorities, and trade-offs—when making and explaining design decisions. Experience balancing standard and special product specifications with cost, practicality, and design intent. Knowledge of the Steelcase product portfolio or ability to learn it quickly. Strong project and time management skills across multiple initiatives. Experience or exposure to sustainability certifications (Living Building Challenge, LEED, WELL) and universal or accessible design principles.
