Job Description
DevOps Engineer III (CI/CD, Release & Platform Engineering Birmingham, AL | Atlanta, GA | Charlotte, NC 6 months Contract-to-Hire Pay Range: $65.00-70.00per hr. Overview We are seeking a DevOps Engineer III to support CI/CD pipelines, release management, and operational excellence for a fully on-prem enterprise .NET API platform (FETA). This role focuses on end-to-end delivery automation, deployment reliability, and production support, not cloud infrastructure or IaC development. Environment & Tech Context Fully on-premise enterprise environment No cloud technologies involved Terraform is NOT used or required No infrastructure-as-code focus in this role Strong focus on CI/CD, release engineering, and operational delivery Key Hiring Philosophy (IMPORTANT) This is a tool-agnostic DevOps role We hire based on capability, not specific tools Candidates will be evaluated on: CI/CD expertise Release engineering experience Deployment strategy knowledge Operational maturity ๐Ÿ‘‰ Tool flexibility: Jenkins = fully acceptable GitHub Actions = preferred/common Harness = preferred but NOT required Strong engineers are expected to learn tools quickly Day-to-Day Responsibilities Build and maintain CI pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) Configure and manage CD pipelines (Harness or equivalent) Implement blue-green and rolling deployment strategies Manage artifact repositories (JFrog or equivalent) Own infrastructure provisioning (non-cloud, on-prem environments) Manage logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting Ensure release readiness, rollback strategies, and feature flag usage Manage secrets, security scans, and compliance controls Handle change management processes and deployment approvals Run deployment calls and coordinate production releases Maintain runbooks and support on-call rotations Support incident response and production troubleshooting Manage API gateway policies, proxy deployments, and compatibility gates Integrate automated testing suites into CI/CD pipelines Provide clear DevOps documentation and enablement for developers Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering 5+ years of DevOps / CI/CD engineering experience (7+ preferred) Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (any major platform) Experience with deployment strategies (blue-green, rolling) Experience with release management and production support Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability Experience working in enterprise environments Preferred Qualifications Experience with Harness (nice to have) Experience with GitHub Actions Familiarity with .NET application deployments Experience in financial services or regulated environments Cloud experience (not required, not used in this environment)
